✦ ABOUT THE ARTISTS ✦

Seed.

Formerly know as SEED Ensemble, Seed. is a Mercury Award nominated ten-piece band led by alto saxophonist and composer Cassie Kinoshi.

The band presents a stellar line-up featuring some of London’s most up-and-coming young jazz musicians. West African and Caribbean influenced groove, seed. explores a blend of genres through original compositions and improvisation. Their debut release Driftglass (Jazz Re:freshed, 2019) features the track Afronaut (feat. XANA) which won the Ivors Academy Award 2018 (formerly known as BASCA, British Composer Award) for Jazz Composition for Large Ensemble.

Bryony Jarman-Pinto

Bryony’s music has charmed tastemakers, fans and live audiences across the board as can be seen by the lengthy list of her supporters. In the worlds of Tony Minvielle (Jazz FM) “she’s the full package”. Since releasing her debut LP, Bryony has been remixed by dego, Wu-Lu, Footshooter, Wonky Logic and Jesse Fischer. She collaborated with Duke Hugh on a Boomerang Records compilation ‘Global Sounds’ alongside the likes of Mark de Clive-Lowe, Yazmin Lacey and Afronaut Zu.

Her debut album ‘Cage and Aviary’ was released in August 2019. Written over the course of three years, the album ties personal reflection to wider social issues, giving an intimate insight into what it means to come of age in today’s world. Sophisticated songwriting is brought to life with Bryony’s harmonious vocals, layered with jazz, soul and elements of folk, creating a melodic sound.

Donna Leake

Charmed by the eclecticism of London, Donna Leake quickly left her native Nottingham to vibrate in unison with the capital. With a broad but no less cutting-edge palette, her jazz, Afro, soul and rock sounds quickly caught on with her audience, as evidenced by her Boiler Room for Dekmantel. Her remarkable residency at NTS Radio has also given her a place of choice in the heart of the capital and made her a sought-after DJ in the programming of many international festivals.
