Brick Lane Jazz Festival makes its debut at the Truman Brewery in April 2022: Three days of jazz music set across five stages, with more than thirty performing artists, the festival will showcase the best of London’s vibrant jazz scene. On Saturday 23rd April, Cubafrobeat will be taking over Juju’s Bar & Stage for a unique live performance.

London fusionistas LoKkhi TeRra creating another unique sound-clash, this time with ex-Fela Kuti keyboardist and legendary UK Afrobeat ambassador Dele Sosimi, and members of his critically acclaimed Afrobeat Orchestra. This particular collaboration has been bubbling away for a few years now, teasing audience expectations with a handful of sold-out shows each year in between both bands busy schedules. Featuring the two pianos of Kishon Khan and Dele Sosimi – Cuban percussionist/vocalist Javier Camilo (Ibrahim Ferrer) – Conga Maestro Oreste Noda (Ariwo) – a horn section led by Justin Thurgur (Bellowhead) and Graeme Flowers (Kyle Eastwood) to name a few – this is an All-star cast.

Kishon Khan’s Lokkhi Terra have over a number of years now been quietly establishing themselves as one of London’s more unusual heavyweight outfits, described as “Stunning Headliners… A majestic multi-cultural blend of sounds… effortlessly builds bridges between rolling Indian raga rhythms, Afro-Cuban grooves, Acid Jazz/funk and free flowing improvisation” (Timeout London).

Included amongst the band members are London’s top Cuban musicians, adding their infectious rich musical history to the city’s melting pot. When the band wanted to explore Cuban links with another of their favourite traditions, Afrobeat, who better to bring in then one of the Afrobeat originators – maestro Dele Sosimi – “Sosimi creates some of the most bewitching grooves in modern African music E Jazz News.

Bringing together two Yoruba speaking musics – with different accents, from different sides of the Atlantic – Havana meets Lagos in London – A Cuban-Afrobeat-Experience. CUBAFROBEAT.

Village Cuts are a dynamic DJ / Producer duo from London, showcasing music from Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, through the lens of UK club culture. Since their inception in 2018, they have ignited dance floors at venues and festivals around Europe and East Africa, whilst holding down regular club nights and live events across London.

The duo have released music with labels such as Wah Wah 45s, Strut Records, Galletas Calientes, Albert’s Favourites, Palenque Records, Heavenly Sweetness and Mawimbi, and have collaborated with pioneering musicians from Kenya, Congo and Colombia. Village Cuts are truly committed to championing new sounds whilst celebrating global underground movements.

Village Cuts tracks have been played on 6Music, 1Xtra, Worldwide FM and various stations around the world. Whilst maintaining a regular Soho Radio show that has featured guests from the UK, Uganda, Italy, France, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Angola, Colombia + more! They’ve also curated shows on Rinse France and Mexico’s Ibero FM.
