Cuban Sundays X Brick Lane Jazz Festival
Join us this Sunday at Juju’s Bar & Stage for an extra Cuban Sunday in partnership with The Brick Lane Jazz Festival!
Live music this week will sound and feel very special as the man behind Sambroso Sambroso, the renowned London-based Cuban party tribe and founder of Cuban Sundays (!) – Oreste Noda – will take over the stage along with his band, Sambroso All Stars!
They will be supported by two Cuban Sunday’s regulars before and after the show: DJ Flecha and DJ Javier… Caliente Latino sets in sight!
Sambroso All Stars is a seven peice band lead by one of the UK’s premier percussionists – and the man behind Sambroso Sambroso, the renowned London-based Cuban party tribe – Oreste Noda. Oreste was born and raised in Matanzas, Cuba. Having started his musical life as a trombone player he found his calling in the congas, where his unique abilities saw him established as the go-to conguero for a wealth of Cuban acts including the Buena Vista Social Club’s Ibrahim Ferrer and other top-notch bands gracing the swanky hotels of beachside Varadero.
As word of his talents spread, Noda was snapped up for a combined 2004 UK tour by South African jazz icon Hugh Masekela and the redoubtable Jazz Jamaica All-Stars, which featured such luminaries as Gary Crosby, Denys Baptiste and the Mercury-nominated Soweto Kinch. Co-opted as a salient member of award-winning rude boys Ska Cubano, Noda proceeded to tour the world for the next eight years, soaking up influences, cooking up ideas and winning new friends along the way.
On this night, for the Grand Finale of Brick Lane Jazz Festival 2022, Sambroso All Stars will be playing the Buena Vista Social Club’s seminal self-named album in full to the salsa swaying audience of Juju’s Bar & Stage. A night to remember for a long time, this is not one to miss!
