EFG London Jazz Festival: The Silhouettes Project + Support from Outrageous Claims (DJ Set)
This event is part of EFG London Jazz Festival 2023, the capital’s biggest pan-city music festival, taking place annually in November, which has long been acclaimed for showcasing a heady mix of talent from around the world. Widely acknowledged for delivering world-class artists and emerging stars, the Festival continues to take jazz to a massive audience, in one of UK’s landmark music events. Following an exceptional edition last year, EFG London Jazz Festival returns with a programme of live performances by an electrifying lineup of global stars, special collaborations, and the finest and freshest music. On Saturday 11th November 2023 it is with great pleasure that we welcome The Silhouettes Project to the Juju’s stage. Supporting their live show is DJ Outrageous Claims.
ABOUT THE SILHOUETTES PROJECT
The Silhouettes Project is a new platform for up and coming Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz artists from the UK. It is not a record label or management team, it is a community project with “A proper family vibe”. The Silhouettes Project provides an open space – a recording studio and live venue (located within the Total Refreshment Centre in Hackney, London) – where MCs, singers, musicians and producers can connect and create.
Founded by community organisers & artists Asher Korner (aka Kosher) and Jaden Osei-Bonsu (aka Eerf Evil) in 2019 with the intention of shining a light on artists in the shadows, the name The Silhouettes Project was born. They say “We felt a joint frustration that the current music scene in the UK only had structures in place to support talent of a certain genre whilst overlooking a buzzing alternative Hip-Hop culture. We wanted to unify artists who are making ground-breaking music but who are in need of a solid structure to work within – artists who we felt deserved more recognition.”
The Silhouettes Project’s 15-track, self-titled LP released in 2020 showcases talent from the UK’s thriving jazz, hip-hop, soul and RnB scene, with artists such as Kofi Stone, Summers Sons, Enny, KeepVibesNear, Manik MC, Lex Amor, Louis The Hippie, Summer-Pearl, Joe Beard and many more featuring on the project.
ABOUT OUTRAGEOUS CLAIMS
Outrageous Claims, AKA Mayan is a London Based producer with an eclectic style taken from influences of Jazz/Funk/Soul and sound system culture. With a wide variety of production styles ranging from smooth and mellow to darker dance floor tracks, He is a force to be reckoned with. He is the co-founder and studio head for Root 73.
