Hailing from South London, vocalist, producer, and singer-songwriter Meron T’s soul-filled sound is rooted in R&B, and neo-soul yet ever-evolving. Drawing inspiration from UK club culture, and sounds of the Diaspora, Meron counts her London upbringing and East African heritage as key influences. Standing out from the crowd with her silky tones, Meron lures her listeners with warm vocal layers and intricate melodies, seamlessly traversing many tempos and production styles.
This is also reflected in her DJ’ing style, in which Meron has been building her presence in the scene after a string of appearances across various London venues this year. Her versatility on stage, both in front of the mic and on the decks, makes her a true force to be reckoned with.
In 2010, Darkstepper entered the DJ scene specialising in the darker sounds of UK bass music championing the then-popular sounds of dubstep and grime. Due to her love for digital crate digging, Darkstepper has continued to expand her style to cover sounds such as experimental R&B, jazz, underground hip hop and future beats.
With her extensive knowledge of genres and respected position in the music industry, Darkstepper inspires to bring fresh and innovative sounds to her sets. She has performed for established event promotions such as Pxssy Palace, BBZ, Keep Hush, One Dance Festival and The Pit LDN as well as performing for Boiler Room, Friday Late at the V&A Museum, UK Black Pride and Depop.
